Hokkaibanya @ Tsukiji, Tokyo, Japan

RATING: ★★★☆ - Very Good   |   PRICE: $$ - Average

Slightly off the beaten path and away from the hustle and bustle of the old Tsukiji market lies Hokkaibanya, it’s what one would describe as a casual family restaurant focusing on freshly grilled seafood sourced directly from the famous wholesale market nearby. In recent years, they have added kaisendon, rice bowls, to the menu capturing some of the overflow crowd from the restaurants within the market gates. The fish is very fresh, prices are reasonable and the best part is that there’s usually not much of a line here, so you can get your bellies filled fast instead standing in line for the better part of the morning.
