RATING: ★★☆☆ – GOOD | PRICE: $$$ - EXPENSIVE
More like a neighborhood restaurant with fancy high-tech toys in the kitchen instead of a true barbecue joint; the cuisine at Fat Lulu’s does push some culinary boundaries but expect better appetizers and desserts than main plates; despite the claim of being an Asian BBQ, many of the meats were distinctively sous-vide which lacked smoky pungency and tenderness one would expect from hours spent in a Southern-style smoker.
If we look beyond the faux barbecue and the CO2 vapor gimmicks, Fat Lulu’s is, in essence, a glorified diner with delicious semi-progressive cuisine and superior desserts at an accessible price point for most but not all.
