Little Bao, Hong Kong

RATING: ★☆☆ - Satisfactory   |   PRICE: $$$ - Expensive

Modern interpretations of Asian buns, Little Bao is a small restaurant in Hong Kong’s trendy LKF district which adds gourmet sauces and meats to what is traditionally a leaf flour bun filled with slow braised beef. While the creations are tasty and the flavor combinations may be a tad innovative at times, even by Hong Kong standards, Little Bao is overpriced and over-hyped which suggests that the restaurant is more style than culinary substance. So, it came as no surprise that our go-to dish at Little Bao was not the ‘Bao” but rather the LB fries which seems to be fried frozen French fries coated with a cloyingly sweet and savory sauce which almost makes a meal at the cramped restaurant bearable.
